Company President Steve Staub Provides Video Testimony to Congress

On Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021, Steve Staub testified via video in front of the United States Congress House Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth.

The topic of the day was: Our Changing Economy: The Economic Effects of Technological Innovation, Automation and the Future of Work

Some of Mr. Staub’s comments included:

“When items are made in the United States you don’t need to worry about getting things off the ships in the ports! It allows us to be more competitive of a country, people are realizing what Made in America really means and how that is so important to allow people to have skills and have a good living wage. The more we manufacture in the United States the more were going to be a country with a higher skill level and higher wages and everyone has the opportunity in this country to succeed.”

This is second time that Steve has testified in front of Congress. He testified in person in 2018 in front of the House Ways & Means Committee about workforce development and all the available opportunities in the manufacturing industry. (See photo)

Steve Staub is heavily involved in growing the manufacturing industry through workforce development initiatives and is one of the founders of the Xtreme STEM programs. Steve Staub Talks Workforce Development with Vice President Pence

Steve Staub, our company president, recently spent time in Washington, DC for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Winter board meeting. While there, he and other board members heard from a variety of influential guests including Vice President Mike Pence. Vice President Pence touted the importance of the USMCA and heaped praise on American manufacturers saying, “You’ve been investing in your companies and investing in working Americans… You’ve really revived the confidence of the American people and opened doors of opportunity.”

Attendees also heard from Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump, who received the NAM’s inaugural Alexander Hamilton award for her leadership on job training and workforce development.

“The high point of my trip, was being one of just five business leaders who met privately with the Vice President,” says Steve Staub. “It was encouraging to see the amount of support from the Trump administration for the manufacturing industry (as a whole) and for the National Association of Manufacturers’ workforce development efforts.”

The NAM is launching a new, national manufacturing-awareness program called, Creators Wanted, which will travel the country starting this spring and will culminate in September at the Making America Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Staub Welder Joins President Trump, NAM Reps for Worker Pledge Signing

Staub Manufacturing Solutions welder Corey Adams will join President Donald Trump, Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump, National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons and Manufacturing Institute Executive Director Carolyn Lee at the signing of the Pledge to America’s Workers.

The Pledge to America’s Workers is an initiative of the White House launched one year ago. To date,  manufacturers have committed to provide training opportunities to 1,186,000 manufacturing workers over the next five years to address the industry’s skills gap crisis. The initiative asks companies and trade groups nationwide to commit to expand programs that educate, train and reskill American workers from high school age to near retirement. Staub Manufacturing is one of hundreds of companies that have signed the pledge.

“We are so proud that the White House and the National Association of Manufacturers invited our Corey the Welder to participate in today’s event!” said Steve Staub, President of Staub Manufacturing Solutions. “Corey is a great example of what is possible in manufacturing. A person can enter the industry with little or no experience, learn a skilled trade through on-the-job training and build a successful career. It’s worth considering that, today, the average welder makes as much money in their lifetime as the average attorney.”

“Manufacturers face a workforce crisis with more than half a million unfilled manufacturing jobs today and 2.4 million jobs that may go unfilled by 2028,” said Jay Timmons in today’s NAM press release. “But manufacturers are also problem solvers and committed to being part of the solution. The men and women who make things in America are the backbone of this economy, and it is our commitment that America’s manufacturing workers will have the opportunity to learn, grow and take on new challenges.”

Corey was a guest of the First Lady (along with Steve Staub and Sandy Keplinger of STAUB) at the 2018 State of the Union address. Today’s signing event is scheduled for 3:30 pm at the White House.

STAUB Hosts Workforce-Focused Roundtable with Senator Portman and Industry and Community Leaders

At STAUB, we’re all about finding solutions to tough problems. Whether that’s for our customer’s production fabrication needs or addressing our industry’s critical issues, we’re not afraid to tackle a challenge. And we believe that bringing key people to the table is one of the best ways to solve a difficult problem.

On Wednesday, February 20th we had the honor of hosting a roundtable discussion with U.S. Senator Rob Portman and key industry and community leaders. Attending, were ten Dayton-area manufacturing business leaders as well as representatives from the National Association of Manufacturers, Ohio Manufacturers Association, Dayton Development Coalition, Dayton Chamber of Commerce and the Dayton Region Manufacturers Association.

The topic of conversation ranged from the benefits of recent tax reform to the negative impact of new tariffs and ongoing challenges of filling the manufacturing workforce pipeline.

Our company president, Steve Staub, who is a passionate advocate for effective workforce development, had this to say about the event:

“I appreciate the support of Senator Portman in addressing these critical workforce issues. We can do much better than our current one-size-fits-all education system and the ineffective practice of pushing every student toward a standard four year degree.

We owe it to the next generation to help them discover and prepare for the many rewarding career opportunities that don’t require a degree and tens of thousands of dollars in college debt. Jobs in the manufacturing industry are a great example, with U.S. manufacturing workers now earning an average of $81,000 per year in salary and benefits.”

This roundtable was part of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) ‘State of Manufacturing Tour’. Jay Timmons, NAM President and CEO, released this statement:

Steve Staub Named to Executive Committee of Manufacturers Association Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. – The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) announced that Steve Staub, president of Staub Manufacturing Solutions, has been named to the Executive Committee of the NAM Board of Directors. As an NAM Executive Committee board member, Staub will work to advance a manufacturing policy agenda that promotes growth and prosperity for all Americans.

“I am honored to be a part of the NAM Executive Committee and continue to fight for policies that will ensure our continued growth and success as manufacturers. Policymakers need to understand how their policies affect the more than 12 million men and women employed in manufacturing,” said Staub. 

“Steve commands respect as a recognized leader in our industry, and the NAM will be stronger thanks to his service on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons.

White House Christmas Party Guests Include STAUB Owners

December 18, 2018, Dayton, OH – The co-owners of Staub Manufacturing Solutions, a Dayton-area contract manufacturing company serving top OEM’s with production sheet-metal fabrication services, attended a Christmas reception at the White House on December 17th.

Brother and sister team, Sandy Keplinger and Steve Staub, and their spouses, were special guests at a White House Christmas reception on Monday. The invitation-only party began in the elegantly decorated East Wing and included a self-guided tour of the red, green and blue rooms. Guests got to experience two orchestras, a men’s choir and a wide selection of delicious foods and pastries.

“We’re humbled to be included in an event like this and glad that our President cares about the manufacturing industry and small businesses like ours,” Steve Staub said. “The White House created an amazing experience for us all. From the Military Orchestra that greeted us to the hallway of red cranberry trees, everything about this event was excellent.”

“The decorations were absolutely beautiful and the food was amazing!” Sandy Keplinger said. “We are just so honored to have this opportunity. It was a once in a lifetime experience!”

Near the end of the party, President Trump and the First Lady addressed the partygoers, welcoming them to “our home” and wished everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a Happy New Year.

“To spend the evening like this with our country’s leadership and heroes, like several Congressional Medal of Honor recipients we saw there, is something that we’ll never forget,” Steve Staub said.

The party of about 500, included other notable guests such as Secretary of Defense, James Mattis, Former Governor Chris Christie, White House Advisor, Kellyanne Conway and Radio Personality, Rush Limbaugh.

This is not the first time that members of the STAUB team have been in Washington or the White House. Earlier this year, Steve, Sandy and Corey Adams were guests of the First Lady for the State of the Union address.

2018 Manufacturing Day Largest Yet

Staub Manufacturing Solutions was one of over 2,600 companies nationwide that opened their doors on MFG Day to high school and middle school students, showing them what today’s manufacturing is really like.

We had the opportunity to host over 130 students from Dayton-area schools including: Huber Heights, Franklin, Warren County and Centerville. It was a great event and we’re already making plans for bigger and better for next year!

STAUB Team Joins First Lady at SOTU

What an honor! Both of STAUB’s owners and one of our welders had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the State of the Union address as official guests of First Lady, Melania Trump. Sandy, Steve and Corey were excited (and a little nervous) about being in the National spotlight, but were thrilled to bring positive attention to America’s critical manufacturing industry.

Their whirlwind trip took them to the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) headquarters, to the White House for a tour, to the Capital for the Address and to an early morning appearance on Fox and Friends. To revisit this special moment check out the links below:

Candidate Donald Trump visits STAUB

Staub Manufacturing Solutions hosted presidential candidate Donald Trump and 17 Dayton-area manufacturing business leaders for a roundtable discussion on issues our industry is facing. After touring each process of our fabrication operation, Trump fielded questions on topics such as taxes, regulations and trade.

Being the host for a leading candidate in an national election was a great opportunity for our whole team. One of the more memorable aspects of this event was the interaction that Donald Trump had with the guys on our shop floor. Even though he was on a tight time schedule, he took the time to talk with each of them and shake their hand. And during the roundtable discussion he personally asked that they come stand behind him, rather than stand off to the side as planned.
